Ductile Iron Pipe & Fittings (EN545 & EN598) to support customers installing networks on behalf of Utilities and Private Sector schemes Nationwide and Steel Fabrications offering bespoke fabrications that are normally value engineered to suit exact customer requirements, further emphasising the innovative and flexible approach to our business.   Case Study Balfour Beatty Power Networks Ltd, New substation at Forsbrook, Staffs - Central Networks Balfour Beatty had to install approximately 6km of a new 33KV cable, 3x single cores laid in a 125mm duct in trefoil formation. The majority of the cable route was on a single track Moorland road that was closed except for local access during installation. Central Networks current specifications require completely ducted systems for underground cable. Special attention to environmental issues required all daily excavations to be backfilled at the end of every working day therefore a choice of ducts were employed based on this requirement. A joint innovative engineered submission was given and agreed by CN via Mr Bob Bielewicz - Project Manager and UGS, for the polypropylene duct to be adopted for installation on this scheme, as opposed to more "traditional" materials, taking into account availability, ease of installation, handling, better heat dissipation, strength and of course cost savings.
