About Our Storm Attenuation Division
With increased pressures from the Environment Agency to only permit development addressing issues
relating to the restriction of storm water drainage from site, we are frequently being asked to for
storm water attenuation systems. We offer a wide range of solutions to these problems
in the form of fabricated tanks and cellular modules. Working closely with Hanson, manufacturers of
precast concrete concrete box culverts and Wavin, with their Aquacell storm water management system,
we have the ability to supply products to suit specific applications taking all site constraints into
account prior to design.
Our Environmental Division also supply full retention separators, bypass separators, washdown separators
and septic tanks. Our relationship with Stanton Bonna, has also led to our distribution of the
elliptical concrete pipe used for storm water attenuation.

Case Study
Tomlinson Civil Engineering - Longhope Flood Alleviation
The scheme, for Severn Trent Water with Carl Bo of Bristol acting as engineers, includes 'in line'
upsizing of an existing sewer in the highway and the provision of storm water storage within an orchard.
For the latter various options were considered including a shaft tank, and precast box culverts. Culverts
provided the most favourable solution enabling an existing easement to be used avoiding maintenance issues
associated with shaft tank pumps. With limited falls available the culvers would require a dry weather channel,
the cost, delivery and weight of these lead us to explore for alternatives and elliptical pipes offered a
practical, economic alternative available from stock.
Progress on site is currently ahead of programme and Tomlinson are confident that this position will be maintained
through to completeion.
