UGS also celebrated its 10 th anniversary in October. It now operates from 11 sites across the UK. The merchant opened four new depots in the last 12 months. UGS has also formed and developed several specialist sales divisions in a purpose-built centre. They offer customers high levels of technical advice, backed by large stocks across the branch network. The divisions include pressure pipelines, geotechnical, channel and access, retaining walls and storm attenuation. The merchant recently received the Investors in People accreditation and has invested greatly in staff development. The company has pioneered several innovative schemes, such as contract partnering and on-site stores for larger projects and local authority schemes. Each branch operates a fully stocked builders' merchant, together with a specialised drainage distribution business. UGS also has a modern fleet of 45 HGVs, all fitted with crane offload facilities.
