Contract Partnering is civil engineering specialist UGS' approach to dealing with any type of project. "Hugely popular with customers", it value-engineers solutions. When a key customer secures a new contract, UGS obtains the drawings/specifications for the project. It then produces detailed take-offs from drawings and prepares quotations for all the materials required - from drainage through to fit-out. Utilising its expertise, UGS puts forward "quality alternative materials/methods that often result in vast savings for contractors".
An experienced account manager visits the site weekly, becoming part of the project management team. Then, in co-operation with the site management, materials are scheduled to arrive on site/on-time, saving any disruption to the scheme.
This, says UGS, obviates the need for the contractor employing an individual on site responsible for calling material forward.
It also ensures that waste and breakages on site are minimised. UGS has 50 of these schemes in operation and a further 30 in the pipeline.
