We provided more than £300,000 worth of Formpave Aquaflow permeable block paving for the redevelopment of the city's former cattle market. In the region of £100 million is set to be spent on transforming the 53-acre site into a retail, residential and leisure complex. This unique pavement technology is increasingly being used to prevent run-off and flooding, and it enabled the project to meet the latest environmental standards. Rainwater infiltrates the permeable concrete surface and passes through a geotextile layer where oil and other pollutants are broken down by naturally occurring bacteria before being released at a slower rate into existing drainage or natural water courses. The technology is a major advance for any new development, especially housing, retail parks, business parks and car parking areas.
